Blonnie:
The nickname I came up with for the Stack 'n Store Bobbin Tower is the Flower Tower. If you like
gadgets, well this is for you. Carla and I thought it was a great gadget to demo. Luckily I won it because
for the price they want for it, I would have been very disappointed. When I opened it, first
thought was, "This is cute". And that is as far as the good things about it. There are claws on
the petals that clutch the bobbins. I had a hard time getting the bobbin in and the thread not
hanging out which made it look like a weeping willow. Unless you have the same color for each
petal, it is very hard to see the selections that you have. You have to turn the tower around to find the
color you need. You can also take the petals apart and take them with you to a class or whatever, but knowing me, in
time, I would just have a stem left because the petals would be lost. But, try it out at the guild meeting, you
might think differently. Everyone has their own opinion and you might win one.
Now for the Bobbinsaver Bobbin Organizer, the blue ring is my favorite. The bobbins fit in perfectly, you can see the colors easily and you can have as
many as you want to hold your different machines bobbins. All I have to do it look down and I see what I
want. Perfect! I vote for this one, and it is reasonably priced. Everyone has their own way for storing bobbins
whether that be in tins, in your machine box, etc. The object of this all is to get organized to make your sewing
experience easier. Stop by and see!
Carla: Stack 'n Store Bobbin Tower -- I admit that I love gadgets. So, I was excited to try out the Stack n' Store Tower. The first opportunity I had to use it was to remove one of the layers off the stem and take it to a stitch night. One layer holds up to 5 bobbins but I only put in 3. They stayed perfectly secure and took up very little space. Then I filled all 6 layers with bobbins using bobbins for 2 different sewing machines. I made sure to push in the side that had the thread tail to avoid the "weeping willow" effect that bothered Blonnie. All bobbins have stayed in place over several times of picking up the tower, removing layers, and even after dropping the tower to see what would happen. Some of the layers came off the stem, but no bobbins fell out. Since there are light and dark green layers, I can see using this product to store bobbins for 2 different machines and being able to know at a glance which is which. I know that this gadget is pricey at $15.95 and don't think that I'd pay full price for it but would get one if on sale. Bobbinsaver Bobbin Organizer -- I've used this gadget for several years and like it very much. These are donut shaped and come in several colors which make it perfect for storing bobbins for different sewing machines (I have blue for my Janome and red for my Featherweight). The bobbins stay secure in the ring and a bonus is that some pincushions can fit in the center. It holds about 20 bobbins. The price is quite reasonable at around $7.95.
